SUGAR (37, she/her) – She is a writer, a married mom to two children. On a whim, she takes a job as an anonymous online advice columnist, only to discover that she needs the Letter Writers as much as they need her.
LETTER WRITERS (any age, any gender) - Tiny Beautiful Things was originally performed with three Letter Writers who performed a variety of letters covering a wide array of topics including infidelity, death, parenthood, pregnancy, sexuality, and marriage. We are looking to cast multiple dynamic performers who are grounded, empathetic, and ready to explore the complex emotions this script contains. The exact number of Letter Writers cast will be decided after auditions. Bring your authentic self to auditions! We want to see YOU!
Based on the bestselling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos, Tiny Beautiful Things personifies the questions and answers that “Sugar” was publishing online from 2010-2012. When the struggling writer was asked to take over the unpaid, anonymous position of advice columnist, Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small.
Tiny Beautiful Things is a play about reaching when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on the questions that have no answers.
